September is here!

We are officially through our transition phase and moving in to our new life as an Open Studio!  We are so proud of this month's calendar.  Thank you again to all the students and new instructors for their help, inspiration, and time in putting together this month's activities.  Look closely at the calendar to find many new and exciting classes!

A few things will now be different.  We will continue to ask students to simply sign their names on the board by the door to help us track the class sizes over the next few months.  This will help us to continue to offer classes at the times that seem to work for you.  The punch card box will be moved in to the studio so instructors can sign off on the multi-teacher punch cards.  This will help our instructors keep track of their classes.

Our biggest and most exciting news is that we have found a private space on the second floor that we hope to call our own!  This space is perfect for a slightly larger class and has a room for massage and body work.  We appreciate your continued support as we endeavor to grow our community and add to our space.

Things to note:

* There is a single person shower available on the third floor for individuals wanting to clean up and change after class.

* Sunday and Early Morning Yoga classes - students will need to read on the calendar description where to meet your instructor as the building will be locked.

* Egoscue has been moved to 12:30 on Wednesdays for this month.  This is a trial run in this time slot.

Karma Yoga classes will continue to be offered every month.  We are dedicated to give back to our students and our community - look for these classes on the calendar.  If you have a charity or organization that you would like to support, email us or write a blog letting us know and we can feature that organization for our Karma classes.

Please enjoy our scheduled events this month, and let us know what you'd like to see here in the future.

Warm blessings,
Gina

Labor Day schedule

The summer is winding down and Labor Day is only two weeks away!  Typically, we close on holidays and allow instructors the day to spend with family and friends.  However, this year we will be offering one class on this holiday.  The 12:30 All-Levels Lunch-time yoga class will still be offered for anyone interested in movement and breath and some nice stretching in the middle of the day!  Look for Bev to return to her regular evening post the following week :)

Thank You, John!

Thank you to another student for a very helpful referral!  Give John Hanson a hand in referring Jill, one of our new instructors, to join our community!  It is with humble honor that we accept such sincere confidence in our new mission from our faithful students.  We welcome all new students and instructors to join in our efforts to bring varied and affordable healing arts opportunities to the Sioux Falls community.

Thank You John!

Growing Schedule

We are so excited to have the opportunity for you to visit with a Naturopath in our space!  We are hoping to begin a series of workshops where certain topics can be covered in detail.  Please take the time to answer the poll in the side bar on the website.  If there are other subjects you would like to potentially see covered in a workshop, please write in the comment section on the blog or drop us a line at eastbankyoga@gmail.com with your ideas.

Also, we are excited that Maria will have the opportunity to offer an additional morning class on Tuesdays.  Please let us know what time would work best for your schedule so we can accommodate your needs.

We are so pleased to be able to slowly grow our community and offer you more services and classes.  Thank you all for your consistent support and encouragement through this fun and transitional time!

September schedule

The September schedule is taking form.  Please pay close attention to the Google calendar on the Schedule/Fees page and begin to plan your class schedules!  There will be plenty of opportunities to begin to explore new teachers, new class times, new classes.  Things to look for include: two Sunday classes, two new 6pm Yoga classes, additional noon classes, our Karma Yoga weekly class, and two new morning classes - one at 6am (private shower area available on the third floor for folks heading straight to work) and one more morning class - time to be determined by you on a new poll (coming shortly)!

We also look forward to participating in the Family Health Fair sponsored by the Bowden Youth Center on September 20th.  Look for a guest speaker to come to our studio in the future to share the special opportunities the Bowden Youth Center offers for our local kids and their families.

We have so much to be thankful for in our stable and open Sioux Falls community.

New Teachers and New Classes!

We are so excited to have the opportunity to grow our schedule and grow our community with two new instructors joining us in September!  Look for more information about our new instructors on the Instructors page. Please take some time to answer the polls posted on the blog to let our new instructors know the best times to offer you classes.

Please be sure to scroll down the screen and answer questions on both polls!

The Art of Living

The Art of Living free intro seminar came to EBY this morning.  It was wonderful to meet and hear Sara Fix talk about her experiences with the Sudarshan Kriya.  We also had the pleasure of meeting two local individuals who have moved to South Dakota from India and who practice the Sudarshan Kriya on a daily basis - thank you to Devi and Roshin! This morning we had the opportunity to practice some simple breathing exercises together and to enjoy a guided relaxation.

The Art of Living has a presence in 151 country countries and in most of the United States.  South Dakota is among the last few states to have the pleasure of receiving these internationally acclaimed courses.  The first course to be offered in the state will be held at the Quality Inn and Suites on Aug 26 - 28th.  Pre-Registration for the event today may save you $75.00.

Open Studio

True to form, our students continue to help us move through this transition.  Toby Anderson came to class on Saturday and stayed after to discuss our changing studio.  As the concept was explained to him, he remarked "Oh, this is like an open studio."  He described how in the computer world the term "open source" is used to describe freely available source code for individuals to use, as long as certain guidelines are followed.  I am unable to go into further description of the computer world's use of this term - I am not proficient enough in that language.  However, when I heard the term "open studio" my mind responded immediately with a resounding "yes!"  This term describes more clearly our original intention for this studio space.  An open place available for practitioners and consumers of the Healing Arts to come together.  No hassle for students, no huge obstacles for teachers/practitioners - just an easily accessible space to create our community!

Thanks, Toby!  And Thank You to all of our devoted students as we move through this transition, grow our schedule, and add to our community.

Don't forget - Sacred Dance is coming up this month, more Zumba is on the schedule, Ta'i Chi, and the FREE weekend events this Saturday - yoga and The Art of Living seminar.  Be sure to check out our Schedule/Fees page for the detailed calendar!

Changes in August Schedule and FREE Art of Living Seminar!

There are some important changes to the August schedule!  There will be NO ZUMBA on Thursday this week and Tuesday and Thursday next week (my error on the schedule).  There will be additional classes the third week of August, please look closely at the calendar!  Also, the first Zumba class is FREE.  Check out Rebekah's bio to find out more about her and Zumba!

August 13th The Art of Living is offering a FREE Introductory seminar to their Sudarshan Kriya course which will be here in Sioux Falls on August 26-28.  A Karma Yoga class will replace the regular Saturday morning class from 9:00 - 9:45 to honor the spirit of this event.

August Schedule

August has arrived, along with our new schedule!  Zumba has made it's debut on our schedule thanks to Rebekah Rinehart.  Rinehart, you say?  That has a familiar sound to it.  Yes! Our very own Sara Rinehart's sister has completed her Zumba certification and has joined our family!  Let's all give her a warm welcome and get ourselves warm in the process of sweating and getting in shape with this fun, upbeat Brazilian dance.

Also on our schedule this month will be Ta'i Chi, offered by Bev.  This ancient art of movement and energy balancing is an excellent way to move in to your weekend.

Maria will once again be teaming up with her talented husband to bring you a glorious evening of movement and live cello music.  If you have not had an opportunity to experience this unique class, take time out of your schedule this month and give it a try!

An additional 12:30 class has been added to help break up the work day.

Pat has generously offered to continue to lead an Egoscue Method class.

Finally - and our BIGGEST news yet - The Art of Living Foundation has contacted our studio to host a FREE intro class to their workshop which will be coming to Sioux Falls the end of the month.  As information is finalized, it will be posted on the Special Events page.

When are all these wonderful things happening, you ask?
